King and Queen of the Beach 2023
The Academy of Beach Sports and Beach Volleyball Inc King and Queen of the Beach is Back!
For One Long Weekend Only 24th, 25th and 26th June 2023.
PLEASE NOTE EVERY PLAYER NEEDS TO FILL IN THE ENTRY FORM, COSTS ARE PER PLAYER AND EACH INDIVIDUAL NEEDS TO ENTER.
Please chose from the drop-down menu which event(s)/days you would like to enter.
Sadly this year due to tides the event is the weekend after the actual Gold Coast Music Festival, hopefully, this means slightly more accommodation and camping will be available!
To make things very simple this year there are three one-day events
Saturday 24th June is King and Queen of the Beach which is an individual player event, you enter as an individual and are placed into the division most suitable, it will depend on UKBT ranking points, wild card application, and the selection panel. We often have up to 7 divisions, each division has 16 players. Four pools of four players, in the morning you play three matches, followed by three matches in the afternoon, to determine the winner. By the end of those six matches, each division will have a top two, this is followed by a shoot-out to determine the winner. This means the winner of the top four pool chooses his partner from the division first followed by the second placed person choosing their partner from the division for the final 'Shoot Out'. All matches are side-out scoring, only scoring on your serve to 15 points (2 clear 17pt cap, pool play, no cap in the final)
Sunday is the pairs event where you enter as a men's or women's pair. PLEASE NOTE both players will need to have completed the entry form. This will be pool play, followed by Single or Double elimination knockout. The final format is to be decided on the day depending on the final numbers.
There are three divisions and you can enter the division on the morning of the event.
Details will be updated closer to the time.
Monday is the mixed One Star event. Teams/partners register in the morning. Please note also both players will need to have completed the entry form.
