Croyde, North Devon is a popular place for beach volleyball in the UK. Denise Austin one of the UK's top beach players lives here and many top players train here year round. Croyde itself has three permanent beach courts which are provided by the Academy of Beach Sports, summer membership is £12 or you can join for the day or an hour. The courts are up from Whitsun to September and the nets and lines are left all the time, just turn up with your ball. They also hold the Gold Coast Ocean Festival on the third weekend of June, which is a King and Queen format.

In Croyde village itself there is a permanent beach court build by Beach Volleyball Croyde in 2001 which is a year round beach court, situated behind the village green, this is free and open for all to use.

Exmouth beach now has two new beach courts. They have been provided with vandal resistant nets (heavy duty nets from Westcoast Netting) and are located between the lifeboat station and the sand dunes in the no swimming area of the beach.

The purchase of the nets have been sponsored by "Solar Safe", a Plymouth based firm that supports beach volleyball in various countries and are Volleyball England beach partners. The nets are free to use, just turn up (no booking required). They are for recreational use, the nets are not adjustable (fixed height) and you have to provide your own court lines. Further beach developments are also planned for the area, including a set of beach showers. .

The sand court is a London-wide project that opened in Sept 2005. Thanks are due to Hackney & Dartford Councils, J Clubb aggregates, the English & London Volleyball Associations, Dartford Volleyball Club, London Spikers Volleyball Club, the U.K. Footvolley Association and others. This is London's first (temporary/pilot) public sand court - it is not built to permanent standards.

This group is used for weekly email notification of what is on at Shoreditch Park. It will become active around May through to September.

Shoreditch Park location: 10 mins walk north from Old St Tube (Northern Line), or South from Highbury and Islington (Victoria). It's at the South West corner of Shoreditch Park, on the large old "red-grass" hard football pitch area, near the corner of New North Rd N1 & Rushton St. It is right next to a children's play area, and near the big Gainsborough Studios buildings Gainsborough Studios, large sign on top).
There is a good Co-op supermarket under the Studios.

The exciting news is that by March 2007 Yellowave will open the UK’s first permanent beach sports venue. The centre will hold six beach volleyball or footvolley courts which can be turned into two fun size beach soccer, rugby or handball pitches or one international size beach soccer pitch. Families and newcomers to the sports will be encouraged with taster and training sessions. Local leagues will be established with dedicated sessions for all age groups and ability ranges.

The new venue will include an area for spectators, a café with decked relaxation area and a bouldering wall for climbing. It will be situated along Madeira Drive, between the famous and expanding Brighton Marina and the Brighton Pier. It will offer a fantastic south westerly view back along Brighton Beach. The venue will be open from 10am-10pm, year round. In stage two, sail-like covers will be designed to allow for play in all weathers. With beach volleyball an Olympic sport and FIFA committing to hosting a Beach Soccer World Cup it is an exciting time for beach sports in general.
